Teen's accused killer denied bond

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Bond has been denied for the man accused of gunning down a Clayton County teenager as he walked to the neighborhood pool.
Clayton County police Tyrone Terek Patterson, 30, is accused of firing the gunshots that killed a 17-year-old and wounded a woman.
Tyrone Terek Patterson, 30, made his first court appearance Monday following his extradition back to Georgia from Delaware, according to Clayton court records. Patterson was arrested earlier this month in Delaware after being on the run for two weeks, police said.
Patterson, of College Park, has been charged with murder and aggravated assault in the July 22 shooting that killed 17-year-old Darnell Alonzo Fields and wounded Fields' aunt.
Fields, his 32-year-old aunt, Cande Hope, and a 22-year-old friend were taking a wooded cut-through to a neighborhood swimming pool when Patterson allegedly fired several rounds after a verbal altercation, Officer Otis Willis with Clayton County police previously said. The suspect then ran away, police said.
Fields, a student at North Clayton High School, died at the scene. Police issued an arrest warrant for Patterson the following day.
A preliminary hearing has been set for Patterson on Aug. 31
